Movie Night and Discussion: Gather
Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide.
Food Forests: Volunteering with Iliana Antonova
Another great collaboration has helped the EcoTransitionMTL team learn some tips and tricks to grow a food forest right here in Montreal, in the front garden of the Head and Hands (NDG) organization. We’re acquiring the know-how and the hands-on experience to be able to pay it forward and help others improve their gardens!
Waterfront Cleaning: in Collaboration with DemainVerdun
Every Friday from 5-7pm, join us in helping rid the waterfront and VerdunBeach from cigarette butts and other garbage. DemainVerdun is another transition town group that has inspired and helped us grow to understand the needs of Montreal and its community. For more information, follow their facebook page:

Big Launch (on Zoom)
We are in a sensitive time of transition; a time to reflect about our collective path, how to best approach the rebooting of the economy, and how to define our new normal. This is an ideal opportunity to act together in order to build a more resilient, humane and environmentally friendly society.
Join us in order to discuss what kind of change you’d like to see, and how this change can be implemented.
I know we’re all fed up with ZOOM meetings, but your voice matters, and we mustn’t let the opportunity to positively influence our society’s relaunching slip away from us.
(Note that the meeting will be held in both French and English)
Time: Jun 23, 2020 07:00 PM Montreal (you can launch on your browser instead of downloading the app)

Movie Night and Discussion: Inhabit- a Permaculture Perspective
INHABIT, a movie created in 2015 to help envision what a more resilient world could look like became available to stream! As quoted by the creators of the film: “The COVID-19 pandemic is causing a global shutdown of our fragile economy and it is a critical moment to reflect on the broken systems that run our world. The goal of this film is to inspire and empower people and we hope by offering the film for free it will have a greater effect." The link is available if you would also like to stream it, or donate towards their next production.
Webinar with the David Suzuki Foundation : Demain le Quebec
You know you’ve made it as a legit organization when you get invited to an initiative started by none other than the David Suzuki Foundation: Demain le Quebec. This meeting successfully assembled and connected all the transition town groups within Quebec so we can support each other, collaborate and share ideas! Pandemic or not, we were gonna start building a network, even if it meant having to learn how to use Zoom, and putting on some civilian clothes for the first time in weeks.
The Big Gathering, turned Balcony Farming
Full of encouragement, great ideas and eagerness to start engaging with the world with our newfound Transition Town knowledge, we planned for our first big event: A Gathering of all Montrealers, young and old, French and English, Men and Women and everyone in between! An event meant to get as many collaborating hands and minds to be the change we want to see in our beautiful city!
This event never took place, as some invasive flu began to ravage our daily lives, and led to the cancellation (delay?) of our Big Gathering. Instead, we opted for a low-key first activity where we (the team) and those around us would begin seeding their (edible) plants and share advice, skills, failed attempts and successes! More updates to come, as this project is ongoing…
Initiating Mtg with TransitionNDG
After much deliberation and research, the team decided to start its very own transition group right here in Montreal. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, we reached out to some great folks at P3 Permaculture, as well as to some veterans of transition town at TransitionNDG. Here our journey began to take shape, thanks to our community of wonderful, innovative, and skilled individuals.
